PPN have issued the following: Are you currently commuting long distances? Would you like the opportunity to relocate to Longford to work in a place that you live? Longford County Council Regeneration Department are currently developing proposals for rural working hubs across the county and want to hear your opinion. We want as many commuters as possible to take part and help define future remote working facilities in County Longford.

Death
When we lose a member of one of the oldest and admired families in our community it is a sad day, and such was the case on Sunday 28th June when we learned of the death at Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar of Evelyn Casey, Church View. Evelyn was more commonly known as Eva lived most of her life in Loughbonnow before moving into town where she became a popular member of the Church View community. She was a character in whose company you would enjoy listening to her regaling stories of times past, Eva lived a quiet life and her passing has saddened all of us that knew her. Eva is survived by her two sisters Elizabeth and Maureen, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. To all of them and anyone that knew Eva we extend our deepest sympathy.
Her remains reposed at Farrell’s Funeral Home on Monday until the removal of her remains to St. Mary’s Church. Following her Funeral Mass on Tuesday she was laid to rest in Rathcline Cemetery.
Possible Reopening
The parish council met on Monday 29th June and consideration was given to the possible reopening of St. Mary’s Church for public Mass. It is envisaged that the church will have Masses on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July subject to Diocesan and Government guidelines of phase 4 and the provision of a controlled and safe environment for all Mass goers

Cemetery Sunday
The commencement of Masses for the celebration of Cemetery Sunday will be celebrated privately on Sunday next 12th July with Mass for the Deceased interred in Lanesboro Cemetery. Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 19th for those interred in Clonbonny Cemetery.
Championship Draw
On Monday night last the championship draws in Roscommon took place. St. Faithleach’s were drawn in Group Two with neighbours Kilbride, Creggs and St. Aidan’s making up the group. The first round will take place on the weekend of 26th July leading to the final on Saturday 26th September which we earnestly hope will be a special day for St. Faithleach’s.
Cloontuskert Cemetery Sunday
Cemetery Sunday will be celebrated in Cloontuskert Cemetery on Sunday 9th August at 6pm
Clonbonny Cemetery
Due to Covid 19 restrictions cemetery Sunday masses are cancelled. As a result of this there is no gate collection for the upkeep of the cemetery. The committee have set up a Go Fund me page to help with these costs. Alternatively, people can donate by putting donation into an envelope with their name and drop into Joe and Martina O Brien’s Shop or Mags Hair Salon.
Audit of Bord na Mona Workers skills
Lough Ree Angling hub will launch a new Access for All boat service on the River Shannon in September 2020. This new state of the art angling boat will be powered by two engines and will have the capacity to carry ten people and a crew of two on the river. This passenger boat will be the first in Britain and Ireland to carry seven people with disability and wheelchair-bound or have mobility issues. It will also serve as a heritage tourism service for the islands of Lough Ree as required.
In preparation for the boat’s launch and the development of a new outdoor recreation centre here, the angling hub is recruiting and training a panel of up to 20 people who will work on water and dry land on a full-time, part-time paid and voluntary basis. Part of this group will also offer their services as angling guides to visitors to the area – when required.
A training course has now been organised for early September for people who are interested in committing themselves to taking part in this training.
All those with an interest in boating and fishing are invited to get in touch with us before July 15th – especially present or previous workers with Bord na Móna or ESB who may be looking for alternative employment.
A series of information meetings for present and former Bord na Mona and ESB workers who are interested in being part of this project took place last week at the Access for All Boat Shed on the North Quayside in Ballyleague. More briefings are planned for next week but in the meantime, all interested workers are asked to fill out a questionnaire with an audit of the skills needed for these new jobs. Best Life Summer Camp
A new Best Life Summer Camp will take place at Hannon’s Hotel, Roscommon from Tuesday 4th August to Friday 7th August. The camp will take place for 6 to 9-year olds from 9.30am to 12.30pm and for 10 years and older from 1.30 to 4.30pm. The camp is limited to 15 per group and it will cosy €70.
Activities will include Life Lessons, Games, Art, Yoga and Meditation and the topics covered will be growing friendships, confidence booster, gratitude attitude, destroy your worries, dealing with mean words, and standing up for yourself.

Astro Pitch Reopens
Ballyboro FC wish to announce that, in accordance with FAI protocol for Covid 19 restrictions, the club’s state of the art astro pitch is re-opening for hire on Saturday July 11th with lots of slots available for mid-week and weekend 5 a side.
The pitch can only be booked online through the www.bookapitch.com website and as part of the new protocol the person who makes the booking online is fulfilling the role of Covid 19 compliance officer for the time they are on the pitch.
Players attending at the astro must not car-pool unless they are from the same household and all players contact details must be retained for one month. All players must arrive togged our and carry their own individual water bottle. All players must use the sanitiser supplied at the pitch.

On-Line Open Art Exhibition 2020
Boyle Arts Festival is highly regarded for its visual arts and comprehensive programme of events. The Open Art Exhibition is held in high regard, showcasing the diverse and exciting styles and mediums of art, sculpture, and photography that attract entries from all over Ireland.
While they are extremely disappointed that the Arts Festival will not be proceeding this year, the committee still wishes to support artists and especially in these challenging times.
An On-Line Exhibition is very different from the traditional style of exhibition that they have done in the past. They hope that this new platform may support the artist in ways that the Boyle Arts Festival Open Exhibition has aimed to achieve for artists for more than 30 years.
The Festival committee encourage artists of all genres tosubmit a piece of art to be included in it. Due to the expected high level of interest, they are limiting only one submission per artist.
Please sent a high quality image of your submission (up close, include frame if there is one and avoid glass glare) and send it via email by 5pm on Monday next 13th Julyto patricia@unabhan.ie

Saddle Up
Rathcline GAA Senior, Minor & Ladies Clubs are delighted to announce the return of “Saddle Up” for 2020
Building on the massive success of 2019 in delivering improved facilities at Clonbonny, we have ambitious plans for this year. The focus of Saddle Up for 2020 is to grow and enhance facilities for our junior members. We will be unveiling our plans over the next few weeks so watch this space!

News from St. Mary’s Church
Parish Council
Following a meeting of the Parish Council held on Monday 29th June consideration was given to the reopening of the church for public Mass. Subject to diocesan and Government guidelines of phase 4 it is intended to reopen the church for Mass on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June.
Cemetery Sunday: Mass will be offered privately on Sunday next 12th July for all those interred in Lanesboro Cemetery.
Weekly Envelopes: Fr. Mickey would like to thank everyone who continue to drop off their weekly envelopes into his house. These are times of hardship and difficulties and your generosity is deeply appreciated.
Baptisms
Individual baptisms may be celebrated under the following conditions (1) the number present is determined by the social distancing measure of 2 metres, (2) The area of the church used for the baptism must be cleaned/sanitised before and after each baptism. For the avoidance of doubt, multiple baptisms are NOT permitted.
Tax Relief Scheme: The Tax Relief forms are for all who contribute, not just P.A.Y.E. and self-employed, but for everyone regardless of their source of income. These forms need to be completed once in every 5 years. You are asked to return your forms to the presbytery as soon as possible.
Weekly Newsletter
The weekly parish newsletter is available each week on Friday afternoon in the church porch or in Martina and Joe O’Brien’s shop.
Kilgefin parish notes
Kilgefin Parish Masses will take place in Ballyleague Church only for the time being.
Daily Mass will take place Monday to Friday at 10am.
Saturday 11th July 7pm for Ballagh and Curraghroe Church areas.
Sunday 12th July 11am for Ballyleague Church area.
The Covid capacity of the church is 50 so spaces are limited.
The exemption from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holydays is extended for the time being. It is important that people who are unwell and especially those with any symptoms that might suggest Covid-19 infection- should remain at home. More details on Covid controls in our church are in this week’s bulletin which is available in Ballyleague church.

Thanks to everyone who attended our first public celebration of Mass with a drive in Mass at St Faithleach’s GAA grounds. Thanks to all who helped organise and run the event. Finally, thanks to St Faithleach’s for the use of their grounds for this memorable occasion. This is a lovely demonstration of community spirit during these challenging times.
St. John’s Church of Ireland
As and from Sunday next 13th July St. Johns Church will be open for Service at 11.30 am. From then on Service will take place in St. John’s Church on the second and fourth Sunday of each month. On the first and third Sundays of each month Service will take place in St. Coman’s Roscommon.
Hand sanitising stations will be available and social distancing will be in place in both Churches.
Rathcline GAA
The Cúl Camp program for this summer is now live for bookings and can be got at www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie
All camps are limited in numbers to 100 per venue so early booking for those interested is advisable.
Following the outstanding success of the inaugural cycle ‘Saddle Up’ the club is embarking on another Saddle Up. Full details will follow on soon and if you intend taking part you should get some bike miles into those legs.
It is great to see the club pitches active once again with many of the teams back in training and we wish all of them the very best of luck in what will be a unique and disjointed season.
