Death

A great sadness shrouded the local community when news of the death was made known on Monday 10th July of Sr. Joseph Regan of the Sisters of Mercy Order. St. Joseph came to Lanesboro in the early years of the Sisters of Mercy setting up their convent in Lanesboro. While she did not teach she was a tireless worker for the order and she gave so much to the behind the scenes work in the convent. For the local community Sr. Joseph was a beacon that shone so brightly with all her work within our community and especially for her unstinting and selfless work with those in need of help and support. Sr. Joseph’s legacy will never be forgotten in our community hence the tremendous feeling of sadness at the news of her death.

Sr. Joseph reposed in Our Lady’s Manor Chapel on Wednesday. Her Funeral Mass took place on Thursday and burial took place in the Convent Cemetery, Ballymahon.

To her sister-in-law Isabel, nephews, nieces, the Poor Clare Sisters, the Mercy Sisters and her many friends we extend our deepest sympathy.
