Tidy Town’s Lotto stands at €14,700
The Lanesboro Tidy Towns Lottery for Tuesday 22nd August stands at €14,700. This is a wonderful opportunity to win a large amount of money for just €2 each envelope or 3 envelopes for €5.
The numbers drawn on Tuesday 15th August for a jackpot of €14,600 were 11, 13, 15 and 24. There was no winner of the jackpot. The winner of the €50 prize was Madaleine Murray, The Green, Tom Gill c/o CE, Sile Delaney, Newtowncashel, and carol Ferguson, Lanesboro.
The Lanesboro Tidy Towns committee would like to thank you for your continued generosity and this support is ensuring that Lanesboro continues to look beautiful.
Over the past number of years the Triathlon club has been a growing feature in our community and the running of their Two Provinces Triathlon is the jewel in the crown every year. Lanesboro Tri club members every week are travelling to take part and support other clubs countrywide.
Last weekend the ultimate challenge of Ironman Cork 140.6 took place with Johnny Kilcoyne taking on this ultimate challenge. Scheduled for Saturday was the Cork Ironman 70.3 featuring Bernie Smith, Mark Kenny, Martin Gillen, Sean McDermott, John Lyons and Sean Farrell.
Along came storm Betty on Friday night and caused the Saturday race to be changed until Sunday and the two races were run together.
Sadly, during the swim two of the swimmers died during the race.
As a volunteer with the Lanesboro Triathlon club I witness the closeness and respect there is between every athlete that undertakes a triathlon. These deaths will cut deep to the heart of our local club and all the clubs throughout Ireland. I and I am sure all the non-member stewards would like to extend the deepest sympathy to the families of both men, to Lanesboro Triathlon Club and all the clubs throughout the country.
It was a great day out at the community games regionals for Leinster North. Local lads Leo Donnellan, Oisin Dillon and Donncha Farrell represented Longford in the u8 60m, u12 600m and u14 800m. Leo made it through all the heats to the final. A definite one to watch out for in the future! Donncha and Oisin both qualified for the community games nationals were they will be joined by Andrew Nolan representing Longford in their respective disciplines. Best wishes to all next weekend.
