Death

It is with great sadness and regret I report the death at Innis Ree Lodge on Tuesday last 7th September of Stephen Geraghty, Ballyleague. Stephen was predeceased by his wife Linda Jameson some years back. Stephen was nature’s gentleman and a man with a tremendous dedication to the communities of Ballyleague and Lanesboro. He was never one to shirk responsibility and always the first person to offer support to any community initiative. All in all Stephen Geraghty was a great man and his passing will be sadly felt by every one of us that had the pleasure to know him and be involved with him. His remains reposed in Farrell’s Funeral Home on Thursday before being removed to the Church of the Holy Rosary Ballyleague. Following his Funeral Mass which took place on Friday Stephen’s remains were cremated in Glasnevin Crematorium. Stephen is survived by his sons, brothers, relatives and many friends to whom we extend our sincere sympathy.

Neighbourhood Watch

As the darker evenings approach we would ask everybody to be more aware of their safety. You are asked to look in on your elderly neighbours to make sure they are safe and well. The local Neighbourhood Watch group supplies the elderly people of the parish with personal alarms and if you think you are or know of anybody that may be eligible please make contact with any of the committee members.

Next weekend, Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th September the group will hold their annual Church Gate collection at all Masses. Your continued support and generosity will be greatly appreciated and will be of tremendous assistance towards the group’s ongoing work.
