Lanesboro Ballyleague Notes 27th September’10

Shannon Gaels Minor Club

Scór na nÓgThe club is already up and running with many of the disciplines of Scór na nÓg. This year the club will have a record number of entries something that we are proud of and are extremely indebted to all of our enthusiastic entrants and tutors.

The Shannon Gaels club is about much more than field activities and we are always encouraging young lads and girls that do not play football to contact us where we can always use their tremendous talents in Scór or even on the stage at the annual Search for a Star, which by the way will take place in February 2011.

We are still seeking lads and girls for set and figure dancing. Anybody interested can give their name to any member of the club executive or to O’Brien’s shop.

November Fashion Show

Lorraine Farrell and her team are in the final stages of finalizing a Fashion Show to take place in Ballyleague Hall on Saturday night 6th November. The leading fashion houses have already pledged themselves to this exciting venture and indeed when one thinks of it the venue is eminently suitable for a fashion show. A wonderful line up of beautiful models are almost all in place and this definitely is a night not to be missed. The proceeds of the night are in aid of Rathcline GAA and Action Breast Cancer.

Tickets will be on sale from next weekend and we urge everybody to support by buying their tickets.

Another County title for Denis

Ballyboro

U14: Ballyboro FC V Camlin Utd. Final Score 4-3.

We had a win at home to Camlin Utd on Sunday last. 3-0 down at half-time, Boro gelled together excellently in the 2nd half to come back and win the game. Goal scorers for Boro were, Shane Kenny (1), Shane Bannon (2) & Kevin Sorohan (1).

U13: Ballyboro U13 v Kenagh Utd. Final Score 2-1.

We were at home to Kenagh on Saturday last for our 1st game of the season. Starting brightly, Boro had much of the play in the first 15 mins with Kevin Sorohan & Mikey Cox running midfield. Boro’s goal came from a brilliant ball over the top by Kevin Sorohan which was latched onto by the lively Shane Phillips who neatly placed it by the on-coming keeper. Boro were on-top and unlucky not to go further ahead with Cian Gannon linking well with Phillips. Just before half-time, Kenagh took advantage of mix-up in Boros defence to make it 1-1 at the break. The 2nd half was a much more even affair with chances both end. Boro keeper, Eran Farrell turned what looked to be a certain goal round the post & with Ryan Gill and Jack Irwin working over-time in defence this game looked as if it was heading for a draw but again a mix-up in the middle saw the ball break & Kenagh slotted home to take the lead. Boro piled on the pressure and threw everything at Kenagh & it nearly payed off with Johnny Hussey breaking free on the right and firing his shot over the keeper just to see it come back of the post, it wasn’t to be on the day & the win went to the visitors. Man of the Match for Boro was Kevin Sorohan.
