Death

The parish was saddened
to learn on Sunday 7th August of the death at St. Joseph’s Hospital,

by his wife Patsy. He was a diligent farmer who tended his farm with great care
and attention until failing health restricted him. Jimmy epitomised the very word
gentleman as his nature was both gentle and kind. Jimmy warmed the heart of
everyone that met him and his passing leaves a sadness in the hearts and minds of
all. His remains reposed at Farrell’s Funeral Home on Tuesday followed by
removal to St. Mary’s Church Lanesboro. His remains were interred in Clonbonny
cemetery on Wednesday following his Funeral mass. To his sister Kathleen,
sisters in law Mary and Anne, relatives and many friends we extend our deepest
sympathy.

Death

The
parish of Kilgefin and indeed the surrounding areas were shocked and saddened
to learn of the sudden death at his residence in Doughill of one our most
popular men, Bernie Joe Nerney on Sunday 7th August. Bernie Joe was
a hugely popular man and wherever he went he always made a lasting impression
due to his warm friendly nature and his tremendous ability to interact with
friend and stranger alike. He was a great neighbour and always willing to help
anyone in need of assistance. His passing will leave a great void in the hearts
and minds of those that had the pleasure to know him. His remains were removed
from Leavy’s Funeral Home to St. Cecilia’s Church, Curraghroe on Monday and
burial took place following his Requiem Mass to Cloontuskert cemetery. To his
sisters Annie, Evelyn, Rita and Brigid, relatives and many friends we extend
our deepest sympathy.

Ladies
play in Championship semi-final

Rathcline Ladies football team on
Sunday next21st August will take on Edgeworthstown in Michael Moran Park
Carrickedmond at 1.30pm. The ladies under the expert eye of coach Barry Cox
have put in a massive effort in their attempt to reach the County Final where
hopefully Sunday will see them achieving that goal. With representatives from
the parishes of Rathcline, Cashel and Killashee there should be no shortage of
support for the ladies. It is hoped that a huge crowd will turn out to support.

Pearse Daly
R.I.P.

It
was with tremendous sadness I learned of the death of Pearse Daly, Aughnacliffe.
Pearse had been a family friend for more years than I can remember and he was
also the North Longford correspondent to The
Longford Leader
and many a chat we had relation to local notes. He was also
a wonderful GAA man where again our paths cross all of the time. He was truly a
great friend and a gentleman I will miss. I extend my deepest sympathy to his
sons Fr. John P.P., Seamus, Dermot and daughter Attracta,
relatives and many friends.
