Mountain Pursuit
Challenge

The
Mountain Pursuit Challenge is a real test of scouting skills and this year the
challenge took place at Benbulben, Co. Sligo. The extreme weather conditions
made this a real test of scouting skills and Mairéad Cleary, Jenny Silva,
Catherine Mullooly, Breda Mullooly, Daniel Mullooly, Conor Walton, Cian
Donohoe, Niall Casey along with leaders Caroline Connaughton and Ronan Collier
did the local scout troop proud.

Lanesboro Social
Services Whist Drive

Friday
night next 4th October is the monthly night for the Lanesboro Social
Services Whist Drive. Lanesboro Social Services committee are one of the
hardest working groups in the area doing incredible work for people. The Whist
Drive is the major fundraiser for the committee and it is very important that
all card players turn up and support the game. When you come along do not come
alone, bring your card playing friends and enjoy a great night while supporting
a hugely worthy cause. The game will start at Friday 4th November at
8.30pm in St. Mary’s Parish Hall.

Lanesboro Shannonside
Indoor Market

Come and visit the indoor market in St. Mary’s parochial Hall,
Lanesboro, every Friday, from 11am to 2pm. Patrons will be able to choose from
a wide range of stalls selling local home baking, local free range eggs, local
mushrooms and jams.  Forever Aloe Vera products, real gold, sterling silver
and costume jewellery, goats milk beauty products, household goods, delph, bric
a brac, DVD’s & books, make up, handbags and nail art products.  Car
parking and playground to rear.  Tea, Coffee and light snacks will also be

Book Launch

You
are all invited to Longford County Library for the launch of Kieran Furey’s
latest collection of ‘Tales from County Roscommon’ and also Lanesboro Lasraí groups
first collection ‘Kindling’s’. The launch, that will be performed by Ciaran
Mullooly,  is on this Wednesday night in
the County Library in Longford Car Park and will commence at 7.30pm

Anger Issues

Knock
Counselling Services, in conjunction with the Irish Association for Anger
Management are running a two-day intensive Anger management programme in Knock
on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th November.  Full information can be obtained from Peter

Parent Toddler
Group

A
parent/toddler group is commencing on Tuesday 8th November at
10.30am until 11.30am in Lanesboro/Ballyleague Community Childcare Service, The
Green, Lanesboro. All are welcome and if you have any queries you are asked to

Ulster Bank
acknowledges Social Services

Lanesboro
Social Services got further recognition of their tremendous work when Marie
Farrell, branch manager of the Ulster Bank Roscommon presented a cheque for
€250 from the Ulster Bank Community Fund for their continued great work within
our community. It was indeed a recognition well merited.

All Dog Owners

The
Dog warden, Pat Mulryan, will be calling on all dog owners in the coming weeks
to inspect dog licences in the Lanesboro Rathcline area.

Sympathy

We
would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to Michel Greene, The Green, Marie
and Peter Mc Garry, Gardenstown, Tom and Rita Greene, Rathcline, their sisters
and brothers and extended Greene and Oates families on the death of their
sister Colette Oates (Greene), Caramana, Longford.

Care

Lanesboro
/Ballyleague Childcare Service will be offering afterschool care from January
2012. Any interested parties are invited to attend an information meeting on
Tuesday 15th November at 8pm at their premises, formerly boy’s
school, on the Green. If you need to find out any more information contact any

PTAA Annual
Dinner Dance

The
Longford region PTAA will hold its Annual Dinner Dance in the Rustic Inn,
Abbeyshrule in Friday night 11th November. Traditionally this dance
is the dance of the year and a wonderful night is assured. Music will be
provided by J & S Sound. The dinner will be served at 9pm. Tickets are
priced at €25 each and can be bought from Breda Moran or from O’Brien’s Corner
Shop.

Charity Shop

The Friends of
Asthma Charity Shop, Main Street, would like to thank all their supporters and
friends over the past two years and the shop will be holding a free second
anniversary Tombola draw. For every purchase and donation made during the month
of November you will receive a free ticket for the draw.  Call in during the month between 10am and 5pm
and you will be in with a chance of winning the many prizes.

Under
15 Boys: Ballyboro FC V Kenagh United. Final score 6-2.

Our
U15 boys were defeated away to Kenagh recently. The goal scorers for Boro on
the day were Shane Phillips & Stephen Walsh.

Under
13 Girls: Ballyboro FC V Castlepollard. Final Score 2-0 Weather conditions were
poor as Ballyboro U13 Girls travelled to Castlepollard for their recent game,
however all players put in a great performance to secure another win.

St. Faithleach’s GAA

Senior
League Semi-Final – O’Rourke Cup: We play against Elphin in the upcoming League
Semi-Final. See fixtures for details of date & venue.

Minor
Ladies: Our Minor Ladies play against St. Dominic’s in the upcoming Minor
League Shield Final. The date & venue are yet to be confirmed.

Lotto:
The numbers drawn were – 7, 14, 16 and 26. There was no jackpot winner and the
five €20 winners were – Ray & Maureen, Lakeview Filling Station. Raymond
Farrell, Bogwood. Frank Kearns, Fairvalley. Mickey McDermott, Ballyglass. John
O’Beirne, c/o cards. The next draw took place on Tuesday 8th
November for a jackpot €4,600. The team in charge – S. Cox, M. Murphy, D.
Dunne, N. Banahan.

Cards:
Every Tuesday in the Club House, 9.00pm. All welcome. The results of last week’s
games are – 1st Ronan/Terry. Runners-Up Padraig/PJ. Last game winner,
Tom/James. The ticket winners were Jack, Terry, Kevin, Joe and Kathleen.

Bag
Packing: The Club would like to express our thanks to Willie Farrell along with
the Management & Staff of Tesco Roscommon for the opportunity to ‘bag-pack’
over the Bank Holiday weekend. Many thanks to all the customers who supported
& many thanks to all who helped out over the weekend.

Zumba
Fitness: Zumba Fitness Classes continue in the Club House on Wednesday
evenings, 7.30pm to 8.30pm (Please arrive 15 minutes before start of class).
All welcome.

to Brendan Doyle & Mary O’Donnell who got married on Saturday last.

Upcoming
Events: Cookery Demonstration with Declan Molloy in the Club House, 25th
November at 8.30pm. Ballyleague NS Fund Raising Event with Frank Nelson in the
Club House, 3rd December. In the run-up to Christmas, there will be something
special in store for kids at St. Faithleachs GAA Club House on 18th December,
further details to follow. The Club are also running a Christmas Draw with
Large Hamper plus many more prizes, €2 per line. Sports Quiz to be held in the
Club House on 28th December.
