Shannon Gaels

It is all go for the Wheelbarrow triathlon on Main Street and festival evening in St. Mary Hall afterwards on Saturday 2nd August.

Longford Minor board is holding their annual Golf Classic in Longford Golf Club on Monday 4th August. The club encourages all golfing members to support.

Under 6, 8, 10 and 12 panels trains on Thursday evening from 7 to 8pm. Under 14 panel trains on Thursday from 8 to 9pm. Hard luck to the minors who went down gallantly to St. Francis last Friday night last.

Under 14 League Final. Those that were not in Clonbonny on Thursday last missed what was one of the finest games played on the grounds. We entertained Clonguish Óg in what turned out to be a thriller. The game swung to and fro for the duration and when the whistle for the end of regulation time blew the teams could not be separated. Extra time was no different with fortunes rising and dropping at an alarming rate. In the end our young players and the huge local crowd were to be disappointed when Clonguish Óg won by two points. It was exhilaration stuff throughout by two excellent teams and both sets of teams and their managements should be rightly proud of their work with these young men.

The club would like thank the huge local support that turned up on the night; all those that helped prepare the pitch and hep with the catering. Your efforts were  a credit and was deeply appreciated by the club.
